Sensured Magazine
Sensured Magazine- July 7, 1990 – December 21, 1991
Published and created by Ivana Ford and Jose Gallegos, Sensured was a small-circulation underground club and rave magazine operating out of Pomona, California. In eighteen months, they produced 33 issues — covering raves/clubs, music, film, fiction, and the people shaping the early Southern California rave scene. It was a remarkable act of documentation of an emerging culture that was in the early stages of defining itself.
Distributed by hand within the community it covered, Sensured left no digital trail. What survives exists in the hands of those who were there.
The scanned issues below are from my personal archive. Because I was a contributing photographer for the magazine, I held onto copies of issues 6–28. They are offered here as a primary record of the scene during my time experiencing it up close, through the lens of the custodian.
